About RTRLA:

The Remember the Removal Legacy Association’s main purpose is to encourage RTR alumni to continue to fellowship and serve their communities. Here is our purpose in more detail according to our official Bylaws (Linked Below):

  1. To function as a dedicated space for former RTR bike riders to gather, work together, and contribute to Cherokee Communities.

  2. To educate Cherokee and Non-Cherokee Communities alike about the history of the forced removal.

  3. To serve as advocates for the promotion of healthy lifestyles and to work toward the prevention of prevalent negative healthcare outcomes such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension in Cherokee Communities.

  4. To serve as a resource to Cherokee Nation Community Organizations, Tribal Councilors, Administrators, Staff Members, and other stakeholders with respect to the Remember the Removal Bike Ride Program.

  5. To work alongside Cherokee Nation Community Organizations, Staff Members, Tribal Councilors, Administrators, and other interested stakeholders in the strengthening of pre-existing positive examples and the development of solutions to challenges facing Cherokee youth.

  6. To collaborate with Cherokee Nation Community Organizations, Staff Members, Tribal Councilors, Administrators, and other interested stakeholders in the organizing of annual gatherings, information sessions, events, resolutions, and online content which addresses and provides input from Remember the Removal Legacy Riders.

  7. To serve as positive role models of strong character and leadership to Cherokee Youth.
